G.A. West is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position within our core safety and executive management group for a Corporate Lift Director. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Continuous review and revision, as necessary, of the internal training, testing, audit and evaluation processes related to cranes and the craft workers related to cranes. This includes deployed Lift Directors, Assemblers, Disassemblers, Crane Operators, Riggers, Signal Persons, and Spotters.
- Engagement and alignment with G.A. West Compliance and Document Controls groups for the required documentation and ongoing data collection of all required records.
- Engagement and alignment with ongoing internal G.A. West and client-specific training to meet and exceed the standards required by OSHA 1926 Subpart CC Cranes & Derricks Standards and ASME 30.5.
- Active selection, coaching, and mentoring of designated Site Lift Directors and cross-training of departmental/site leadership in the expectation and authority of the Site Lift Director.
- Setting up the standards and protocols for the verification of the critical qualifications and certifications for the craft labor involved with jobsite crane/lifting. This would include machine-specific and configuration-specific certifications, qualifications, and verifications.
Oversight responsibilities and base knowledge requirements shall include the following:
- Ensuring the compliance of the criteria for the use of the crane and certifications/inspections.
- Knowledge of and ability to provide lift planning for special lifting operations, including critical lift and multi-crane lifts.
- Ensuring the operating area, including planning for ingress, egress, assembly and disassembly, and load transport is prepared for crane operations.
- Knowledge base for the proper use, required training, testing, and evaluation of operator knowledge, inclusive of the ability to use and follow the manufacturer’s operations manuals and load tables.
- Knowledge base for the deployment and development of specific hold points for verification of crane configuration for the capacity to be lifted.
- Knowledge base for the inspection and verification of ground conditions for crane lifts.
- Constant development of team members and maintaining a culture of teamwork and ownership.
Other Requirements:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Minimum 10 years of active experience in a Lift Director or equal role.
- Extensive experience in crane and rigging operations.
- Experience with the logistics regarding cranes, transportation, assembly, and disassembly.
- Broad knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to industrial projects.
- Minimum certification as NCCCO or equal crane operator, assembler, disassembler, or lift director.
- Certification as a Master Rigger.
- Formal education and/or certification may be a partial replacement for the 10 years of active experience, such as a degree in engineering, or certification in crane inspection, operator instruction, rigging instruction, OSHA 500, OSHA 510, and other safety/engineering core competences.
- Specific understanding of software for lift planning, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is desirable.
