G.A. West & Company is seeking a Track Hoe Operator for an opportunity in Mobile, Alabama with an expected duration of 4 years. A Track Hoe Operator, also known as an excavator operator, is a skilled professional who operates heavy machinery to dig trenches, foundations, and holes, as well as handle materials and prepare sites, requiring mastery of equipment controls, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to interpret plans and grade stakes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating excavators: Digging trenches, foundations, and holes, moving earth, and leveling terrain.
- Following plans and instructions: Accurately interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and grade stakes, and following instructions from supervisors.
- Equipment maintenance: Inspecting and maintaining excavator equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Safety: Adhering to safety protocols and ensuring a safe work environment.
- Communication: Communicating clearly with team members and management
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience operating excavators in a safe and efficient manner.
- Solid understanding of machinery, hydraulics, and construction techniques.
- Good spatial awareness and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
- Acute attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with the team and report to the supervisor.
- Good sense of balance and physical stamina to remain seated for long hours and operate the machinery safely.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and regulations for heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues with equipment or on site
- Must have valid driver’s license and be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
